Fine Silk Charmeuse Scarves

What Makes Our Silk Charmeuse Marbled Scarves Unique

Every marbled scarf begins as an original work of art. We create the marbled design by floating paint on a wet marbling surface, imprinting it onto silk, and then transforming that one-of-a-kind artwork into a refined digital design. The final pattern is printed on fresh silk charmeuse, preserving the fabric’s beautiful satiny sheen while capturing the character and movement of the original marbling.

Where floating paint, silk, and the unpredictability of the marbling process come together to create each unique pattern

Paint is carefully floated on a wet marbling pan, where colors spread and interact to create distinctive organic patterns. A piece of solid silk, pinned to a stretcher frame, is suspended from our outdoor rig. The framed silk is then gently lowered onto the floating paint, allowing the design to transfer directly onto the fabric.

Preserving the character of the handmade original while transforming it into a high-resolution design that can be refined and reproduced

Once the marbled silk has been imprinted, it is dried and washed. The original artwork is then scanned at high resolution to create a digital file. This captures the intricate movement, color, and texture of the original marbling while giving us the flexibility to prepare the design for printing.

A careful digital finishing process that enhances the artwork without losing the beauty and spontaneity of the original marbling

The digital artwork is carefully worked on in Photoshop. We add borders, make subtle color adjustments where necessary, and remove imperfections around the edges. The aim is not to erase the handmade character of the marbling, but to create a polished composition that translates beautifully onto a finished scarf.

Combining the individuality of hand-created marbling with the luminous color and luxurious satiny sheen of new silk

There is an important difference between the original marbled silk and the finished scarves. The original silk charmeuse loses some of its luster during the marbling, washing, and drying process. Our finished designs are printed onto fresh silk charmeuse instead, giving each scarf the rich, luminous character of the original artwork while retaining the beautiful satiny sheen of new silk.
